The iconic Triton Fountain in Valletta was turned off today as a sign of respect following the announcement of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis I earlier this morning.The Government has declared tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd April 2025, as a day of mourning in honour of Pope Francis, a global symbol of social justice and peace, and the beloved leader of the Catholic Church.The day of the Pope’s funeral will also be marked as a national day of mourning. On that day, all public government events and functions will be cancelled.Flags across all government buildings and offices will be flown at half-mast on both dates, in tribute to the late Pontiff.The Government encourages the Maltese and Gozitan people to join in this final farewell by observing these days of mourning with solemnity and respect.#MaltaDaily | Malta Daily
